Fantasy Football: I’m a First Timer

Fotolia_26749301_Subscription_XXL I’m one of those girls who loves sports…from a spectators perspective, and mostly baseball and football. I played soccer as a really young girl, but we moved so much I never joined any other sports. Total bummer, because I’m very competitive.

I grew up loving the Broncos, because at the time, I’d lived in Colorado the longest and loved John Elway. He did break my heart  after I moved to Washington. My brother and I got tickets to see the Broncos vs Seahawks. Of course I rooted for the Broncos in the midst of all the Seahawk fans. After the game, we waited for the players. Elway came out, I screamed for him (along with everyone else) and he just kept walking.

I was devastated. My football hero ignored me. Then I heard someone next to me say he was stuck on himself and I never gave him another thought.

Now I live in Minnesota and follow the Vikings. Last year wasn’t impressive whatsoever. In fact, it was downright depressing. The year before I enjoyed myself immensely because I kept calling all the games and ticking off my co-workers! I find joy in the little things.

I have no idea what to expect from the Vikes this year. It’ll be interesting to say the least.

Along with the pre-season, everyone’s getting ready for Fantasy Football. I’ve heard of it over the years, but have never participated. Have no clue as to how it works as a matter of fact.

I’ve been told I have to pick a team. I have to choose them September 4th. Anyone want to help a girl out here? Here’s the spots I need to fill:

Starters

Quarterback

2 Wide Receivers

2 Running Backs

Kicker

Tight End

Defense (you pick an entire teams defense for example you would pick the Steeler Defense)

Bench

Quarterback

Wide Receiver

Running Back

Kicker

Tight End

Defense

Any advice or suggestions would be delightful! Feel free to chime in, or ask your hubby/boyfriend for some suggestions!

I can only speak from a St. Louis point of view, but look for good things from quarterback Sam Bradford and both running backs Steven Jackson and Cadillac Williams!! Good luck!

A few years ago I might have been able to help but I'm pretty out of it as far as the NFL goes these days. It was consuming so much time and my son just isn't into it at all.

I'm the only girl in our Fantasy Football league! I won my first year and have placed in the top 3 every year since except last year when I palced 4th. I'm hoping this year brings a win and some cash my way!

I couldn't handle fantasy football. I kept calling it sports bigamy b/c I am a huge Patriots fan. So having to even remotely hope for someone else to do well was near impossible. My team sucked b/c I refused to play anyone on a Patriots opposing team, also excluding everyone in the Pats division. It was a rough season.

Oh no, I'm sorry to say that none of the men in my house have the least interest in football & I'm no help either.

I'm sure no matter what it will be fun, though.

Hugs & love,
Mimi

No clue as to who I'd pick for a fantasy football team. Best of luck making your choices.

Good luck picking. I am worried fantasy football would be too time consuming, so I've avoided it so far. It does sound like fun though.

Good luck! I'm not a huge football fan, but my son and husband are. I do enjoy watching my son play, and I usually watch the Superbowl that's the extent of my football these days. I used to be in a Fantasy Football league with some coworkers, but I was never very good at it.

Yay! You're going to love it! Fantasy Football makes all football games so much more exciting because either you've got a player in the game or one of your opponents does.

I've been the commissioner of an all girls fantasy football league for the past 6 years and we have a blast!

No idea. But good luck with whatever/whoever you choose. And keep ticking off those coworkers! I'm sure they take it in good spirit. :-)
