B'More Media Moms Downtown Baltimore Crawl

We’ve now been in Maryland for just over a month. I think the boys have adjusted pretty well in their schools. I’m working on making friendships and connecting with local bloggers. We haven’t been able to do much exploring yet so I don’t know much of my surroundings. I was so excited to kill two birds with one stone.

Port Discover

Heather from (cool) progeny had set up an opportunity for mom bloggers to get together and do a Baltimore Crawl. We were going to be learning about family friendly spots in Baltimore. I was pretty excited about that since I’d only been to Baltimore once and knew nothing about it. I have to say, I was pretty impressed with what the city has in such close proximity for families!

National Aquarium

We all started off at the Port Discovery Children’s Museum. We’ve always loved children’s museums and I have to admit, I’m sad my kids have all outgrown it. There was a gal who took us around to various areas and I have to say, if I had met her when I was a little girl, I would’ve been fascinated and probably followed her everywhere. You could tell she had such a passion for children and their learning and enjoyment.

Coast Guard

USS Torsk

I really liked that this Children’s Museum was embracing new technology. I’m sure it’s not easy trying to stay current with how our kids are changing. If my boys were still little, they would absolutely love everything it has to offer. While we were watching some of the moms try out the activities I had the chance to chat with Lara (said like Lara Croft). I was so happy to get to chat with new ladies!

Rays

From there we walked to the National Aquarium. I had no clue where we were going or how far we had to walk. lol I hadn’t worn walking shoes. I had somewhat dressed up. I’ll know better next time. =)

Turtle

I was absolutely hypnotized by the aquarium. I immediately texted Fred and told him we absolutely had to go back and we had only seen the Black Tip Reef Exhibit. Thankfully we got to spend a lot of time there and take in all of the creatures swimming around. We then headed to the lower level to get a different perspective of the Reef. It was just a spectacular place to be and I knew that the boys would absolutely love going there!

Baltimore

After we left the aquarium, we walked along the water and headed over to Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Of course like all kids, my boys are fascinated by Ripley’s. It was such a fun, interesting, and bizarre place to visit. I had no idea that every single item in any of these places are absolutely authentic! At first, when we got there, I was thinking, “Oh, those are cute replicas”, so when we went back through there was more awe from me for the crowns and swords.

Big Ship

We had the opportunity to try the Moving Theater 4D. That was a crazy experience. Again, my boys would probably get in there and not come out for a couple of hours. lol It was a very dizzying experience, but it was a blast! I was sitting next to Fadra and she assured me if she was going to get sick, she’d go the opposite way of me! lol Considering the fact we’d just met a few minutes earlier, I appreciated that.

Ripley's

Princess tiara

Lara and a couple of other ladies walked back to our starting place and we all started heading home. My poor sweet Fred…he had to deal with a somewhat crazy person on the phone. I had changed my gps to “walking” and it kept showing me it was going to take me 13 hrs to get home. lol I was crying and he was trying to frantically trying to get me directions. Thankfully he has a store in that area and aside from my freak out, he…as always…stayed calm and never once got upset or frustrated with me.

Swords

Pop tart foil trex

I am really, REALLY excited to take the family up there and spend more time exploring each place.

*I wasn’t asked to write a blog post, but was given a swag bag from the businesses we visited.

Wordless Wednesday: My Man

I can’t wait to tell you about our day at King’s Dominion, but here’s my favorite photo of the day. This was our first time doing a park like this and it went really well, for the most part. Fred was such a good sport and so patient with everyone. He never ceases to amaze me. He is definitely one of the good guys, and I don’t want to let this one get away!

A Good Day With Seattle’s Best Coffee #Rubi2Go #shop #cbias

SoFab Disclosure for Rubi
There is one Walmart that I can go to that gives me everything that I need, but it’s not so close to me. That means, when I go grocery shopping, I need to do some serious planning. One of my saving graces is the Rubi Coffee Kiosk.
Seattle's Best Coffee #Rubi2Go #shop

When I shop, I am pretty focused. I want to get in and get out. I’m not one to linger unless I went without a plan and then I end up walking up and down aisles trying to remember what I need.

Members Only #Rubi2Go #shop

Last week I had made the plan to drop off some paperwork in Annapolis, head up to the Walmart to get the groceries that I had on my list and then go meet the ladies in Baltimore. Well, my plan didn’t go as I’d hoped. I had wanted to bring Heather a coffee as a thank you for inviting me to meet some local bloggers, but there were a few hiccups.

Pumpkin Spice #Rubi2Go #shop

First I forgot my cooler. That meant I couldn’t get any refrigerated/freezer products. So, I power shopped my way through the store, all the while thinking about getting some coffee. As soon as I finished, it went to the Rubi Kiosk and to my great delight, found out they have Pumpkin Spice right now!

While I was waiting for my coffee to brew, the man who had been a couple people in front of me at the check out lane came up behind me while I was waiting for my coffee to brew. He asked me to call a cab for him, which I did. Unfortunately, I wasn’t even thinking, but I should’ve offered to get him a coffee!

Rubi Kiosk #shop

The Rubi uses fresh ground coffee that’s made from Seattle’s Best Coffee beans that are ground in the machine while you wait! I love that! You see the process happen right in front of you. I even had the option of signing up right from the screen to receive special offers!

It was pretty convenient coffee to grab on the way out of the store. lol It could make shopping in the mornings a bit more bearable…if I ever get out of the house before my morning coffee. Oh and if I could, this is how I’d prefer to start my morning every day…with my guy!

Enjoying #WickedGoodSeafood From Gorton’s & Giveaway #sp

Print
To start off with, yes this is a sponsored post, but for the record, we always have some form of Gorton’s seafood in the freezer. See the following photo as evidence:
SAM_4551
Usually it’s Buddy who’s eating the fish fillet’s when Doodle and I are eating spaghetti. For a treat, I occasionally get Buddy and I either their popcorn shrimp or their jumbo shrimp. He and I could eat boxes upon of their shrimp! One of the fillet’s I haven’t tried before are the Crunchy Breaded Fish Fillets. When Fred and I were out grabbing groceries the other day, he and I debated on what to try and ended up choosing the Southern Fried Country Style fillets.
SAM_4550
Tonight was the night to try them out. Buddy’s been wanting shrimp, so I gave him those and I tried out the fillets. Doodle on the other hand had pancakes. Yes, I can be a short order cook occasionally. smh
SAM_4549
What I love about having Gorton’s around is that they’re a meal in less than half an hour. Usually for us that means fish and chips. Quick and easy. Right now we’re not a family on-the-go, but there will be days when we do running around that Gorton’s is my go-to meal.
SAM_4441
I love using Gorton’s in burritos and tacos, but here are some other delicious ideas:

Halloween Witch Finger Fish Sticks
Halloween Fish Stick Graveyard
Fish Sticks in a Blanket

Now is my chance to offer you the opportunity to win:

  • Three $2 off product coupons
  • 1 Gorton’s-branded ship wheel keychain
  • an assortment of Gorton’s recipe cards
  • Beautiful seaside/Gorton’s postcards
Be sure to participate in the Wicked Good Seafood online sweepstakes, too!

*I received Gorton’s product for review. The opinions expressed are my own. a Rafflecopter giveaway

My New Keurig From Staples! #sp

When I moved from Minnesota, I left my Keurig behind with my daughter. I knew my dad had one, but it was still a hard thing for me to let go. My mom gave it to me for my birthday. I was pretty happy knowing I wouldn’t be without my coffee fix.
SAM_4210
This past spring, I knew that the boys and I would be moving to Maryland and that meant…no Keurig. I need my coffee to start my work day. C’mon people, how else am I supposed to make it from my bed to my couch without a cup o’ joe to start the day?! It’s a tough world.
SAM_4211
So, one of my new go-to places has become Staples. Before we always had such a long drive to get to ours, but by my mom’s we had one not too far away and that’s actually where we got a lot of our back-to-school supplies as well as our new printer. That was as pretty slick purchase as well.
SAM_4213
What I had no clue about was that they carry Keurig’s as well. I told my dad about that and you will not believe what he did. He felt that his new one was too old (3 yrs old) and he needed a new one. Yes, and this is even knowing I was having a new one sent.
SAM_4219
Then it got to him asking me about all of it’s functionality, price and had I seen the mini ones because one of his co-workers has one in her office and it’s “COLORED”. hahahaha
SAM_4222
What I needed to be thoughtful about was knowing that my coffeemaker would probably start to be used for more than just me. I’m hoping that we’ll have people over and that means we’ll need a Keurig that’s good for just me to use. The OfficePRO is for small offices, and that suits me perfectly!
SAM_4224
So, my OfficePRO came with a box sample of various K-Cups to sample and I also got some Peach iced tea as well. I guess being in the south, tea is a pretty popular here. I’m still not a fan, but maybe it’ll grow on me?
SAM_4225
My Keurig is just as awesome as my old one! I didn’t have the option of Descaling my other Keurig and honestly, I can’t remember there being a drain option. I never descaled my other Keurig and had no idea I should. I’m thinking that since I have well water, I’ll need to do it ever 6 months. I love that this one has a sensor letting me know when it needs to be done! I also like that there’s a brew/drain selector on the back so it can be transported without water leaking out. Trust me, if I know I won’t be able to have my coffee, I WILL be taking my coffee maker with me!
SAM_4227
Now, I have to tell you, this one isn’t the quietest Keurig around. lol In fact, the first time I used it, to prime it, I think it shook my entire house and sakes alive it was loud! Maybe it was just the initial use because it’s gotten much better since that first time.
SAM_4229
Other than that, I have absolutely fallen in love with my new Keurig. If you’re like me, you might not have realized that Staples carries these for small businesses! Staples has become my go-to store for my home office needs as well as every day school supplies for my boys.
