Disney's Peter Pan 65th Anniversary - Blu-Ray & DVD

Does your family love Disney movies as much as mine? You can't be a classic like Peter Pan! I'm trying to wrap my brain around how it can be having it's 65th Anniversary! It seemed brand new when I was a child. I loved it as a child and was thrilled to share it with my kids as they were growing up. When I was given the opportunity to get a copy of the movie to enjoy again with the Anniversary Edition, I couldn't pass it up.

Of course, after visiting Disney World nearly a year ago, I fell in love with Tinkerbell all over again! She might not be a princess, but she's a fierce little fairy, and that's the way I like her. That makes me all the more excited to watch this movie again. It's been a number of years since we've seen it.

Now that I think about it, I'll have to talk with the neighbors because they love doing neighborhood movie nights and this would be perfect! Their kids are a completely different generation than my kids so I'm guessing this would be a new movie to most of them. First, you can't go wrong with classic Disney movies, and second, we're talking Peter Pan so no matter your age (or your child's age) you'll love it!

Bonus Features:
BLU-RAY & DIGITAL*:
New Signature Collection Bonus

  • Stories from Walt’s Office: Walt & Flight – “Think of the happiest things, it’s the same as having wings”. As a continuation of the “Stories from Walt’s Office” series, we’ll soar into the world of one of Walt’s favorite pastimes and look at the history behind the company airplane he used to scout Central Florida looking for the perfect place to build his second theme park.
  • A “Darling” Conversation with Wendy & John: Kathryn Beaumont and Paul Collins – Join Disney Legend Kathryn Beaumont (the voice of Wendy) and Paul Collins (the voice of John) as they reunite for the first time in many years to reminisce and discuss their experiences working on Peter Pan, meeting Walt Disney and learning to fly … literally.

A parallel of sorts to that duality can be found in Walt Disney and his core group of animators, the Nine Old Men, in their lives and in their work. Our short film will look at who they were and the parts they played in one of the most remarkable team of artists that ever worked together.
  • Deleted Song: “The Pirate’s Song” – Original demo recording of the song played over concept art.
  • Deleted Song: “Never Smile at a Crocodile” – With music played over static concept art of the crocodile from Pater Pan.
  • Deleted Song: “The Boatswain Song” – With music played over static concept art of Captain Hook and his crew.
  • Deleted Scene: “The Journey Home” – A proposed alternate ending where Peter asks the Lost Boys to return home with Wendy and the other children.
  • Deleted Scene: “Alternate Arrival” – A deleted scene where Wendy and the children are initially attacked by the Lost Boys because Tinker Bell tells them that Wendy is holding Peter captive. We also see in this version of the story that Nana the dog travels to Never Land with Wendy and the children.

The Space Between Us Giveaway

This weekend while my hubby was gone I had the chance to watch The Space Between Us. I had seen the trailers while it was in the theaters, but never had a chance to go see it. Man am I glad I was offered the opportunity to review it and host a giveaway!

We've really enjoyed movies with Gary Oldman, Carla Gugino, Asa Butterfield, and Britt Robertson so with them all together in this sci-fi movie, we knew it would be a good family night movie. Here's the storyline of the movie:

Sixteen-year-old Gardner Elliot (Butterfield) is the first human born on Mars, living his whole life with a team of scientists on the red planet.  He’s always longed to see Earth to find the father he’s never known and to meet a beautiful street smart girl named Tulsa (Robertson) he’s encountered friends with online.  But when his chance finally comes, doctors discover his heart can’t withstand the Earth’s atmosphere.  Eager to find his father, Gardner and Tulsa escape on a cross-country race against time to unravel the mysteries of how he came to be and where he belongs in the universe.  See the heartfelt and inspiring romantic adventure about how far one person can go for love.

The movie starts with a group of astronauts getting ready to head into space and the adventure doesn't stop until the credits start to roll. I'm not typically a sci-fi kind of gal, but this movie was more about the relationships between all of the characters than anything too scientific. I think with the direction our space programs are going, it was a great idea to study. What IF a child was born on another planet. Would they ever be able to adjust physically to life on Earth?

It was interesting that Gardner didn't really understand society or how to converse with people on Earth when he lived with scientists for 16 yrs. Now granted, they probably never expected him to go BACK to Earth, but still, you'd think the astronauts would raise him to understand how people interact. So many things that make you go, "hmmm," as you watch the movie. Lots of what-ifs out there.

No spoilers here, but I found the ending very interesting! Definitely a movie you don't want to miss. Two people will win a copy!

Smurfs: The Lost Village & Movie Ticket Giveaway

I don't know about you, but I grew up watching the Smurfs cartoons. I remember as a teenager living overseas in Spain and watching it in Spanish. Now THAT was an experience. lol It's been fun seeing the Smurfs movies with my kids. We're all pretty excited for the newest movie coming out March 7! I was asked to share some fun images, and I have some coloring pages for the kids to color, too.

This movie doesn't have any real people in it, it's all animated, so it's back to the usual way we watch these movies! My boys were a little surprised, and my oldest actually pointed it out. I'm totally good with it being all animated. Just like the good ol' days!

I'm happy to be able to share some cute coloring pages as well as a faith based discussion guide! Wouldn't it be great if we had these kinds of discussion guides for every movie we watch with our kids? Ok, maybe not every movie, but movies can be such great conversation starters with our kiddos.

There are five great talking points that cover:
  • The source of our identity
  • A servant's heart
  • Courage to act
  • Our past doesn't define us
  • Loved into being
We have a busy week coming up, but we're planning on seeing the movie next Sunday after church.

You can also check out some adorable coloring pages that your kids will want to color either before or after they see the movie! You can print those using this link to the coloring sheets.

Be sure to enter the GIVEAWAY! You don't want to miss out! Giveaway ends 4/6 so be sure to enter TODAY!!

Who is your favorite Smurf?
