FATAL CODE

Publisher: Revell
Series: The SNAP Agency
ISBN: 9780800739799

Natalie Walters has ignited my love for suspense, especially military or government related suspense! She's just SO good at it and brings to the table a very unique perspective that draws me in every single time!! I'm part of her launch team so I received her book as part of it and am excited to share my thoughts on book two with you!

Summary:

In 1964, a group of scientists called the Los Alamos Five came close to finishing a nuclear energy project for the United States government when they were abruptly disbanded. Now the granddaughter of one of those scientists, aerospace engineer Elinor Mitchell, discovers that she has highly sensitive information on the project in her possession--and a target on her back.

SNAP agent and former Navy cryptologist Kekoa Young is tasked with monitoring Elinor. This is both convenient since she's his neighbor in Washington, DC, and decidedly inconvenient because . . . well, he kind of likes her.

As Elinor follows the clues her grandfather left behind to a top-secret nuclear project, Kekoa has no choice but to step in. And with danger closing in on all sides, Elinor will have to trust the man who has been spying on her to ensure her discoveries stay out of enemy hands--and she stays alive.

My Review:

SO GOOD! So, so, so good!

I knew reading the sneak peek at the end of Lights Out that Fatal Code was a MUST! Reading the sneak peek for book three... I can't WAIT for it.

If you are a fan of Tom Clancy and James Patterson you're going to love Fatal Code! Suspense is the name of the game and a lot is on the line as the SNAP Agency tries to uncover the truth of who is giving sensitive information to the wrong people.

The author puts the reader on edge almost from the start as she gives us a good dose of people who could be the bad guy. As much as I tried to deduce who was stealing information I kept being waylaid by other details.

There's also a healthy dose of humor that gives the reader light moments in the midst of craziness. They're well placed and had me laughing out loud when I least expected it.

It was great coming back to the Ohana of the SNAP Agency. I can't think of another author who infuses Hawaiian culture and language in their story so I thoroughly enjoyed that element. Listen, if there's an 808 anywhere near me, I want to be included! Getting to know Kekoa in this story was exactly what I hoped for. We got to learn more about his backstory and what landed him with SNAP. There was a point in which my heart absolutely broke and my eyes were filled with tears.

Elinor was a FANTASTIC character and I think SO many girls would love to get know her. She's a fabulous example of women involved in STEM and careers that are more men centered. She's nerdy and embraces it! Sadly, that career is on the line because everything points to her as to being the one feeding information to the wrong people. Also, she is absolutely perfect for Kekoa!

Of course, the rest of the SNAP Agency is involved in solving the mystery of who is involved so we get to spend time with them again and are able to learn a bit more of how they tick. The way they work together isn't always perfect, but they are Ohana and have each others back. Once again they make the reader want to be part of that family.

This is easily one of my favorite suspense series and I'm champing at the bit for book three!! I can't wait for Garcia & Lyla's story.
