Fed Up With My Motorola Droid2

Just over a year ago, Oct 2010, I got my first smartphone! I was so excited because my blogging had started to take off and I was starting to go to blogging events! I had considered waiting for the iPhone 4, but wasn't super convinced Verizon would actually start carrying it.

Of course, just a few short months later, yes INDEED, Verizon put out the iPhone 4 and I was totally bummed. Oh well, I still had my Droid and was enjoying it and all it's functions!

Well, as we headed into Spring, my "smart"phone started acting totally stupid. It was constantly freezing and getting super hot in the back by the phone. So, Verizon sent me a refurbished one. Yah, that was having the same issues. I only waited for a month or two before I called them up again to tell them, "Houston, we have a problem!" They sent me another refurbished phone. You guessed it, still having issues.

They decided the 3rd time would be a charm and sent me a battery instead to see if that might be the issue. I used it with my 3rd refurbished phone and it was good for a couple of months. Then my phone started freezing again. I wanted to be DONE with this dumb smartphone, but the time got away from me and my year went by.

Now, I want to throw it out the window of my moving van pretty much on a daily basis! What's a girl to do? I need to have my smartphone as a blogger. It's been life changing and has made my life so much easier.

My options seem to be endless and everyone has their opinion on what phone is the best. I love the iPhone because of their pictures. LOL Yes, something that might seem inconsequential, but as a blogger who is out and about all the time, this could come in handy. And the Instagram app is SO cool. I could care less about Siri. I don't need a phone that talks to me. Besides, she'd probably talk back to me like my kids.

I'm pretty sure I'll stick with the Android platform. But, do I wait for the Droid 4 or go with the Motorola Razr? Looks like it might only be a month or so before the Droid 4 comes out and now there's also the Razr Maxx with a longer batter life! Too many choices and all from Motorola!

What smartphone do you have? Any suggestions as to what I should go with?

You probably don't wanna know what I have. You know, since it's a Droid 2 and all. ;-)

Okay, it's a Droid 2 Global, to be exact. I don't have a lot of issues with it, but Hubs has the same exact phone, bought at the same exact time, and has a lot of issues with his.

What Android version are you currently using?

I've got a Droid X that I got last spring and I love it... now, I did lose it in the toilet at work, but luckily, a friend had an old one that she gave me... this one doesn't work quite as well... but it was free... so far so good! I've got no plans to switch! I got my original for free through wirefly.com.

i have a droid also. I cannot wait to upgrade someday to an iphone! I hear that's the way to go but it's so expensive! Are you almost due for your free upgrade?

LOL! It'd probably talk back like your kids! hahaha! :) That totally made me chuckle! I have an iPhone 3GS and well, let's just say I'm working on quite a few myself. My most recent disaster was just a month ago. It quit working. Froze on the charge screen. I hadn't backed it up...uhhh...EVER! I had over 1400 pictures of my baby girl on it. She's only 20 months old. You can imagine my devastation. I took it into the apple store and they were willing to replace it immediately. Problem? I WANT THOSE PICTURES! The only option? Send it to another company that will charge me over $1000 to get them back. :( Guess you know what our tax return money will be going to. :/ I guess pictures are worth 1000 words...or dollars in my case.

We don't have a cell phone and I don't even know what an Android and an iPhone is. I couldn't tell the difference nor could I tell you the features.

I hope you find the phone that suits you and your lifestyle! :)

I have a Samsung Droid that I like! I can't believe they kept sending you refurbished phones! Not cool!! I drop my phone all the time and have had it for a while - but no issues. I guess I know not to buy a Motorola...especially from Verizon. Yikes!

Funny you should mention this. I don't have a Droid but my husband does and hates it. He uses it alot for business and it's so unreliable. It takes him forever to do things and so many other things he doesn't like. I'll tell him hope is on the way.

Thanks for this post!! And your honesty!! Love that about you! Grin!

I have the HTC Droid Incredible and I'm also fed up. Pretty happy with my Verizon service, but the Incredible has been annoying. It keeps saying my data is full, even when I have plenty of room. I get to upgrade in August and will probably go with the 4S.

I JINXED MYSELF!!

Guess who took pictures with her phone last night of her adorable nieces? And guess whose photos didn't save?

Grr.... I finally got it to start saving again but I have no clue what I did - or didn't - do, so no clue how to resolve it.

Boo hiss.

I just got an iPhone a few months ago; my first smartphone! What I love best about it? The pictures! It takes better pictures than my digital point and shoot camera. I can take blog worthy pictures with it. So, if you decide to switch platforms you'll love the iPhone.
